"I am responding to the review written 4 months ago by John Holden who was a guest at our place. I would like to first start off with the evening over a few beers. Yes I did say those words and will not deny this, there were alot of circumstances and fustration over some things that happened and I vented out. This is not an excuse for what I had said that evening, and it was completely wrong of me to do this and for this I am most certainly sorry. It by all means does not reflect my normal character or values. I have lived here with my Filipina wife and my daughter for over 15 years and do so by choice. I love the people here and love the life style. I am very well liked by our community and my wife and I do many things to help promote the area we live and to help people here. As for John's experience at our place. Part of my venting was do to employee problems and unfortunetly John was here during the time we were having some big problems with 2 of our staff. One was a cashier, the other was a cook. They both have since been fired and replaced. We gave and give as many chances as possible to our staff, at times this can be a very trying experience and it does not matter whether it is here in the Philippines or the USA, people are people, some bad and vast majority good. My wife nor I would ever pad books or miss charge customers, never! If a problem like this happens we would hope that the customer would say something to us and allow us the chance to fix the problem. Our prices are not any different than anywhere else, other than the street vendors. If the food or the service is bad, again we would hope the customer would say something to us and allow us the chance to fix the problem. This did not happen in John's case and he decided to make a public forum of this. As for the wind and forcasts, I cannot predict the weather and go off weather forcasts as most people do. In Johns case it was very early in the season and we had 6 days of nice conditions prior to his arrival, the forcast also looked good at the time. I went off of that. When John arrived the wind had stopped and stayed that way for almost a month and a half other than the 2 typhoons and tropical storm that swept through. This season for us has not been anything normal by any means and still is not currently. If I believe the wind is not going to be good I ALWAYS recommend other places to people so they do not make a trip here to sit around. In John's case I went off what I thought and unfortunetly was wrong. I did not at any time string John along to stay here and waste his time. I would not like it done to me and I would never do it to others. For those who wish to inquire, I can show literally hundreds of emails where I recommended people to try other spots rather than come here. The last thing is John's mentioning keeping him here to get his money, the last thing I need is his money. Just prior to John's visit we had a big typhoon come through that basically destroyed our old shop. We did not bother trying to fix the old shop do to we had begun construction on a new place that was do to open November 1st. The new shop did not open until the end of December do to alot of bad weather. I am sorry that John had to endure no wind and suffer through a bad period of time at our place. I only wish John would have allowed us the chance to correct the problems. If John gets the chance to read this, I hope he will take the time to contact me personally. Mikes-Kites"
