Boggy Lake popularity is from the weather conditions. Spring and summer is warmer water, about 18°C and really warm in patches. Some wear wetsuits and some don't. It is preference really. You will be too hot in your winter wetsuit, so wear what you want really. If you are kiting it is Southerly and therefore will not be too hot, normally about 20-25°C. If it is Northerly coming off the land and you are waiting for the sea breeze you will be very hot.

Boggy Lake is popular due to the most reliable sea breeze in South Australia east of York peninsula. All you need is a wind prediction of something southerly, ESE to WSW, strength generally does not matter in the predication only the direction as at about 3-4 pm. The sea breeze will come in very regularly. In summer there is light until about 8:30 pm so plenty of time for fun before dark. Best directions are SSW and SSE with some strength in the predication as it will kick in to 20-28 knots constant wind until dark.
