How to get there
Flying into Banda Aceh Iskandar Muda airport, Sumatra, Indonesia. The airport has regular International and Domestic flights daily and is only a 25 minute car drive to Lhoknga. Foreigners no longer require a travel permit (Surat Jalan) to enter Aceh, but an Indonesian visa is required. Since 6 June 2010 it is possible to get a 30 day Visa-on-Arrival at Banda Aceh Airport. By Plane: AirAsia flys from Kuala Lumpur to Banda Aceh every day. Firefly Malaysia's community airline now flies from Penang to Banda Aceh every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

It is far smaller than the impression given and further limited by strong currents both close to the shore (deep water launch) and going out to the large waves breaking on the reef. 200 m from beach to A frame waves on reef at the very most, more like 80m in many places. Very little flat water and limited space for intermediate free style practice, currents will take board away towards reef after a crash if not recovered immediately. Very small beginners area.

The other season is from January to March. 15 min drive with the scooter in a shallow, waist deep, sand bottom, easy spot without waves. Perfect!
